Jabra Evolve2 65 Causing Peripheral Lagging w/ Dell XPS 13 (9380) + D6000 Dock + eGPU

When I go to the "Thunderbolt Control Center" Port 1 is blank, Port 2 shows my eGPU.

@PlzHelpMe1  The finding in Thunderbolt Control Center is expected because they D6000 isn’t an actual Thunderbolt peripheral. It’s just a USB-C device. As for the issue you’re having, a headset isn’t all that taxing. If you haven’t already, try updating the DisplayLink drivers required for the D6000 directly from DisplayLink.com rather than Dell. Otherwise, the XPS 13 9300 has been having multiple USB-C/TB3 issues lately, so that may be involved here. I learned from an internal contact that the next BIOS release (1.2.0) is slated for September 4. You may also want to keep an eye out for TB3 controller firmware updates in case just having the Sonnet connected is somehow involved, or just test without it connected.

On a side note, the D6000 was a pretty expensive way to get a power source and a hub for the connectivity you’re using with it, given that you’ve got displays covered by an eGPU. The D6000 also isn’t a great choice overall for most use cases since it relies on DisplayLink rather than a native GPU output like the WD19 and WD19TB, but I guess if you’re not using it for displays, then no worries.

I'm going to return the D6000.  I had a Pluggable USB-C dock that had the same issues, so now I'm beginning to think it doesn't matter which dock it is.

The problems are only happening while I'm playing Destiny 2.  I did not have this problem when I had a wired headset, only after adding the Jabra Bluetooth adapter (Jabra Link 380).

@PlzHelpMe1  Plugable makes docks that use DisplayLink technology as well, so that could account for the issues you encountered with both. But if you’ll be running external displays through an eGPU, then you don’t need a docking station that supports video output at all.

I have a Jabra Evolve 75 with a Jabra Link 370 and haven’t had problems using it with various dock models, although I don’t use DisplayLink docks.

@jphughanDoes DisplayLink affect the USB input devices?

With the Pluggable the mouse and keyboard would lag when both plugged into Pluggable dock.  I solved this by attaching the mouse through the USB-C to USB adapter that comes with the Dell XPS 13 (9380) into a separate port.

Is there a hub or dock that is just usb 3.0 and ethernet cable?  Would that fix my issue?

@PlzHelpMe1  DisplayLink shouldn’t affect video. Some USB 3.0 ports are problematic to use with wireless receivers if your USB keyboard and mouse are using those, though.

As for a USB+Ethernet hub, I’ve linked two options below. The latter adds more capabilities including power passthrough for the laptop, but it costs more. Or if you don’t need a travel version of this, you could just get a regular powered USB 3.0 hub and plug a USB Gigabit Ethernet adapter into one of the hub’s ports. I tend to prefer powered hubs anyway because unpowered hubs can’t always run certain devices or combinations of devices. Anyway, here is Option 1 and here is Option 2. Note that with the power passthrough option on #2, the hub itself skims off 15W for itself. The XPS 13 is designed for a 45W source, so if you want to use the power passthrough, get a 60W or better USB-C power source for optimal operation. They’re not difficult to find.

@jphughan To clarify that point, Plugable has DisplayLink, Alt-Mode & Thunderbolt docks in it's portfolio.

I have trouble when playing Destiny 2 in this configuration:

Thunderbolt 1: eGPU

Thunderbolt 2: ethernet cable, wired keyboard, wired mouse, webcam, power supply for laptop stand fans

Thunderbolt 3: Yubikey

If I take the Yubikey out and plug the mouse in the Thunderbolt 3 port I don't have any problems.

Adding the Jabra 380 Link to the mix just breaks everything.

This might just be the video game.  I don't have trouble until I start playing the video game.  Could the eGPU be  up the thunderbolt resources?
