Left-click not working consistently
Adding my post to to the pile in the hope that Dell is paying attention to this forum... I just received a new XPS 17 a couple of weeks ago. I'm having the same issue with the touch pad. Left-click works about 2/3 of the time. I have the most success by moving another finger around the pad without lifting it BEFORE attempting the left-click. But even that frequently fails.

Thank you very much for watching out for me. BUT I had something pretty cool happen. Dell was actually monitoring this forum and reached out to me shortly after I posted. They sent a repair tech to my home who replaced the touch pad. Pleasant surprise! Great customer service! In the end, the new pad behaves in the same manner but the tech was able to explain it to me. I'll post the solution separately for the benefit of anyone else having the same challenge.

Dell replaced my touchpad but the new one exhibited the same inconsistent clicking. The technician explained why: The physical buttons are not in the corners. They are located along the bottom edge approximately 1.25-1.5 inches in from the sides of the pad. When you click on the corners, the pad flexes and does not consistently engage the buttons. When I simply move my finger in to the button location... voila! Works consistently. One could argue that it's a design flaw-- but I'm satisfied now that I know the trick. I'm posting here in case it helps anyone else. Have a great day.
