Microphone cuts in and out when using Zoom - tech support unable to help. HELP

I bought my XPS13 last month for work which I will largely be doing over Zoom as I'm WFH for the forseeable. When I use Zoom other users can barely hear me, my voice is very quiet and cuts in and out throughout the call.

I've checked the mic and it works fine, installed all the latest updates and drivers, and performed a hardware diagnostics check. I've spoken to Dell tech support and they can't help, and say if it's a software issue rather than a hardware issue my warranty is invalid.

I spent a lot of money on this machine and can't currently use it for the main chunk of my work. I wanted to splash out on a top of the range laptop to avoid these kind of issues, I'm not good at tech-speak and when I search online it seems like a lot of Dell users are having the same problem but I have no idea how to fix it. Argh. Please somebody help me.

@farmer_in_the_ @MiaVision @WD1983 @NeilM-F4L @Kaleidoscope91 @KateJMcC Hi - I managed to solve my issue by following the instructions found in another thread (see below). I searched for MaxxAudioPro on my computer (similarly didn't know I had it...). Seems somewhat strange for this to have been the problem, but holding thumbs that it isn't just a stroke of luck but solved. Worth a try!

The solution is in another thread posted by FloraGo https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/XPS-13-7390-Mic-Problems/m-p/7671662/highlight/true#M67735.

Suggestion is to - and I quote -

"I had a similar issue that was resolved by a community member. In the MaxxAudioPro Waves app (I didn't know I had this), choose the icon/tab for voice (in the upper right, looks like a top down view of a person at a computer). Turn/toggle off the button on the left below the tab icons (terrible UI) and that's it!" - so, then the "soundwaves" screen thingy underneath is turned off.

I gave my user another laptop and deleted her profile from the problematic one. Not had a problem since.

Any solutions for this? I bought this Dell Inspiron late August 2020 (it's late Jan 2021 now) and my mic constantly cuts out during meetings with my dissertation advisors...it's frustrating.

What can we do about this? I'm livid about the way this machine runs, so expensive and so many problems. And tech support  is an absolute joke.
