NEW XPS-17 9710 Best Thunderbolt 4 docking station?

Hello,

I need some help regarding of what thunderbolt 4 docking station is suitable for my xps 17 9710. The configuration of the laptop is :

PROCESSOR: 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-11800H (24MB Cache, up to 4.6 GHz, 8 cores)

GPU: NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3060 6GB GDDR6 [70W]

RAM: 16 GB

HDD: 512 GB

So I need to find a docking station which can match the power that the laptop will consume when is on full throttle + 2 `25" Dell Ultra Sharp U2518D.

Do you guys have any recommendations? If not thunderbolt 4 maybe one that matches the requirements.

@gizet The XPS 17 is designed for a 130W power source, which is more than the USB PD spec currently in use on the market allows. Dell did something proprietary on some of their own docks to support 130W over USB-C, but you won’t find that elsewhere. The only current Thunderbolt dock that will run that system optimally is the WD19TBS. It supports TB3, not TB4 since Dell doesn’t have a TB4 dock as of this writing, but TB4 doesn’t add a whole lot over a TB3 port that has all optional features implemented as the XPS 17 does. The only other dock you could use would be the WD19S 180W w/ 130W PD (not the 130W w/ 90W PD version), but that is a basic USB-C dock, not a Thunderbolt dock. However, when paired with your system it will run dual 2560x1440 displays and your other peripherals. The WD19TBS would run dual 4K 60 Hz or triple 2560x1440 displays and also adds a TB3 peripheral port.

What do you think of the new CalDigit TB4 docking station with 18 ports and 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet?

And, is Dell coming out with an equivalent TB 4 dock with the 130 W charging?

The changelogs for the BIOS 1.7.2 update for the XPS 17 9710 mention the WD22TB4 dock.

For normal office work even a standard 60W USB-C dock will suffice, I've tested that with my XPS17 (RTX3060) and three 4K displays.

So I would go that route and plug in the 130W Dell USB-C power supply for optional heavy duty work and later buy the new WD22TB4 dock if you got sick of plugging two cables everytime.

WD22TB4?  Seriously? I'm currently waiting for my WD19TB to deliver (early May). Am I going to wish I waited just a bit longer?  *sigh*  Technology, moving ever forward.

Early July.  Wait two months for the newer thing?

actually I have the same laptop and I’ve been charging it with the WD15 180W . So that one works too!
