Problems installing drivers on an XPS 13
I have an XPS13 (L321X) which I screwed up. I am using a Windows 7 operating system.
About three weeks ago I attempted to use a Logitech Wireless Presentation Remote with my computer. It is normally plug & play. The R800 would not work. So I returned it and purchased a R400. It would not work. Then I tried a Targus remote. It would not work. Then I tried a Beboncool remote. It would not work. Along the way I was told by Logitech that I needed to add bluetooth software so I purchased an ASUS USB BT-400 Bluetooth 4.0 adapter. It seemed to work. Along the way, however, things got screwed up because now my Targus docking station will not completely work.
My computer has two ports - a 2.0 port and a 3.0 port. Nothing seems to work in the 2.0 port. Some things work in the 3.0 port. For example, Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard will work in the 3.0 port. My external hard drive will work in the 3.0 port. My Targus docking station kind of works. When I plug the monitor into the docking station it does not work. The speakers do not work when plugged into the docking station and they do not work when plugged into the computer. My external hard drive works whether it is plugged into the computer or the docking station.
I have looked at device manager and everything seems to be running properly except with my docking station not being connected there are two unknown devices under other devices. The location of the first device is Port 0001 Hub 0001. The location of the second device is Port 0001 Hub 0002. Under device status both display the following message: "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device click Update Driver." Under the details for both devices, the hardward IDs are "USB\VID_8087&PID_0024" and "SB\VID_8087&PID_0024&Rev_0000". When I plug in the docking station I get the same message under device status: "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device click Update Driver." No matter what I try to do I am unable to update the drivers.
First question, HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW DO I FIX THIS PROBLEM.
Second, if I do a clean install of Windows 10, as opposed to an update, will this fix the issues?
I appreciate any assistance.
