Re: XPS 13 7390 Screen Flickering

I had the same problem and sent my XPS 13 back to Dell. I was able to correct this issue temporarily by reinstalling Windows and disabling the Windows Update Service before connecting to the internet. Then, downloading and installing all of the most recent drivers from the Dell Support web site. The issue appears to be bad drivers being installed by Windows Update. A technician replaced my screen and the issue persisted until I reinstalled Windows. I really hope Dell removes these bad drivers from Windows Update.

Thank you for your message. We have replied to your private message, with the details of the service.

Did the issue start after any Windows update or a driver update?

What is the BIOS version installed? Is the issue observed after update the graphics driver?

If you have Dell Support assist installed, please check if all the drivers show updated.

Roll back to an old version of the video driver, it seems to solve the issue:

seriously, rolling back to previous drivers is an age old hack fix. cant believe we're still using these fixes from the 90s.

I have a brand new dell xps 13 7390 2-in-1 and was aghast that on the 2nd day, i saw the screen flicker issue.

The premium price we pay for these machines, makes me think its not worth it.

I already had to fix the killer wifi issue and now this. Hope I don't see any other issues.

Apart from that, this is a blazing fast machine.

This resolution helped me fix this issue.

- Go to intel graphics command center

- Go to system settings in the left panel

- Go to power category of settings

- Here you can see 2 settings, one for "on battery" and the other for "plugged in"

- Disable "Panel self refresh" for both categories.

Let me know if it works for you as well.

Hello. I am sorry to know that the issue is back. Was there any update that happened on the system? Can you check if the self panel refresh setting has changed to defaults? ^MP

The issue is back.

Can anyone let me know what else I can try?

This is getting frustrating now

I'm not sure if there were any new updates. As they are automatic.

Panel refresh settings are still the same. Disabled.

Is there anything else I can try?

My issue started a week ago and slowly graduated to complete shut off of my screen sporadically. I've had my laptop for roughly 6 months. I was told since I am out of the 30-day window the only option I have would be to send it in or have a tech come and replace my screen at my home.

Very disappointed in the premium price for a mediocre fix.

Has his been fixed and how? I have the same product, showing the same problem now. And it sometimes shows unclear picture after scrolling. Absolute   for a product of that price.

Yihaa I've solved this problem  Guys
There is a basic mistake made by the engineer which was fatal, causing flicker

I once solved this problem on dell xps 9350 and it works xps 9300, 9310, 7390

There is no problem with software or feature, adaptive brightness, panel self refresh, refresh rate are doing fine

Trust me is a very simple way

You can email me or contact me, ill give you the solution for xps 9300, 9310, 7390 screen flicker

Before this i'm also solved touchpad erratic/freeze problem on dell latitude 7480
