Replacing the Realtek Drivers?

Question

I was able to do this in the past, but now I'm struggling to get it working. The Realtek Drivers on my XPS cause a consistent hissing sound whenever I'm doing audio things, whether it's listening to music, or attempting to do some audio editing in Audition. In the past, I was able to replace the Realtek Drivers with the generic ones from Microsoft, and the audio worked significantly better, with no hissing static and no eardrum wrecking pops when audio is started up again after being paused for a while.   Based on what I've been reading online, this is an issue that has never been fixed, even in the newer XPS machines. If I'm to stay with the XPS/Dell lineup, can somebody recommend a method by which I can replace the broken drivers?
