SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools update taking a long time
I have an XPS 13 and the latest SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools update (version 5.3.1.13866) is taking hours and still hasn't finished... I just want to know if this has been an issue for anyone else and how long it should take? Or if I can cancel it somehow and redo it another time? Thanks!

I'm also having this problem; it's been going for hours - and mine is the first of 10 updates! I'm afraid to cancel as there is a warning regarding disconnecting power adapter etc. from the system.

i have a inspiron 15 and tried to install this (5.3.1.13866) update yesterday. after an hour and a half of "installing", i shutdown my computer. when i rebooted today, it went ok and when i looked at the "drivers and updates"section, that particular update was missing. hopefully it was withdrawn and nothing bad will happen to my computer. but i updated with the rest of the drivers and updates (including Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Plugin for Dell Update) and everything seemed to be fine.
hopefully dell will fix whatever is the install problem for that particular update.

Did they fix it and does Dell reply to any of these queries?
I have an Inspirion 17 and the updates have so far taken longer than 24 hours and is only about 2/3rds of the way through

Same problem. Running for hours and appears stuck about 3/4 through the process. Disk still showing it's running. About to shut it down. Wish this stuff was properly debugged before releasing.

So, if I have the same problem, it means Dell has done nothing since then. THREE MONTHS!!!!

Stuck for hours now on installing updates 1 of 4, SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools. Since it's late, I'll let it run overnight and I guess reboot.

got a Precision 7760 with a 2 TB system and a 4TB datadrive. It runs now 48hrs with 97,5 % finished. Datadrive is being locked. i fear to shutdown system, because it might render system useless and i wouldn't know, how to de-activate software for re-installing. Why this operation doesn't give a rough estimate about running time BEFORE one executes it is beyond me. Dell could have saved themselves tons of support requests. Given that, i would have rather not run this, but instead letting it loose over a weekend, when i am not using the notebook at all.
So, how to proceed? How long to wait? Any insight?
Thanks.
PS I would have sent a direct message, to Dell Care, but i am not eligible to do this by just having registered.

I have the same problem. This happens to me will I try to solve another problem (battery not charging on docking station). It was a mistake to buy a Dell laptop.
