Upgrading BIOS when XPS can't find hard drive on restart

Hi,

I have an XPS 15 9550 with BIOS 1.9.0. Since installing 1.9, I've always had an issue with the BIOS not finding the hard drive after a restart. After not posting, the laptop would power down, I would turn it back on, and the BIOS could always find the hard drive after a full shutdown. So, I've had a slightly annoying workaround whenever I've had to restart my XPS.

Now, I'm trying to update the BIOS to 1.10. I run the installer, and when the installer restarts the computer, the BIOS can't find the hard drive, the computer shuts downs, I turn it on, the BIOS can find the hard drive, but the BIOS can't be upgraded.

Because the hard drive is always found after a full power down, it doesn't seem like a hardware issue(mis-seated drive, cable issue, etc.). Is my only option to upgrade the BIOS to put it on a USB drive and manually flash it?

Thanks for the help!

-James

Perfect! Thanks, I thought the hard driver was one of the other driver updates I was applying, but I guess not.

I just updated the hard drive driver and the BIOS without any issues.

Really appreciate the help!
