WD22TB4, display support resolutions with USB-C

Dear All,

My system/platform has only USB-C port not TBT4 port. I am using Dell Thunderbolt Dock WD22TB4. I was referring to "dell-wd22tb4-userguide-en-us", Just wanted to double check, is it possible to connect three displays with resolution of 4K 60Hz to the available two DP port and to one HDMI port? So that I wanted to see or expect all three displays connected to WD22TB4 (ie., at two DP & one HDMI ports) to be lighting up at 4K 60hz?

Many thanks in advance

hi,
According to the Dell WD22TB4 user guide, the dock supports up to two displays with a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz via the two DisplayPort 1.4 ports. The HDMI port supports a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440 at 60Hz. Therefore, you can connect up to two 4K displays at 60Hz to the dock via the DisplayPort ports, but the third display connected via HDMI will only support a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440 at 60Hz.

Thanks a lot!, much appreciate for your quick responses, May I know please, with DSC (Display Stream Compression) , what is the three maximum resolutions supported by the dock when connected over two DP 1.4 ports & HDMI ports?

As per the support document,  the document is very unclear, Table 2. Triple-display connection -> this table seems to be confusing w.r.t the first reply , it doesn't light up all three displays, with with two DP 1.4 ports + one HDMI port at 4K@60

Anyways this was clarified in your first reply, that two DP 1.4 ports lights up 4K @60hz, & one HDMI at 2560 x 1440 at 60Hz.

Could you please clarify w.r.t DSC https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-uk/wd22tb4-dock/dell_wd22tb4_userguide/display-resolution-table?guid=guid-fafc77a4-c95f-44df-92ad-608231d11cd9&lang=en-us,, the below is unclear

  • DP 1.4 + DP 1.4 + HDMI 2.0: QHD (2560 x 1440) @60 Hz

Similar to your first reply precisely, Could you please let me know, with DSC (Display Stream Compression) enabled, what is the three maximum resolutions supported by the dock when connected over two DP 1.4 ports & HDMI ports with DSC enabled - with normal typeC ?

With DSC (Display Stream Compression) enabled, the Dell WD22TB dock can support up to three displays at the following maximum resolutions:

  • Two displays at 4K (3840 x 2160) @60hz each, and one display at QHD (2560 x 1440) @60hz, when using two DP 1.4 ports and one HDMI 2.0 port.
  • Three displays at QHD (2560 x 1440) @60hz each, when using three DP 1.4 ports.

Please note that to achieve these resolutions, the connected devices and the cables used must also support the required specifications.
