Windows subsystem for Linux

Question

Hello! My primary home machine was Linux for a little over a decade, and I went Mac in 2013. My desktops at work have remained Windows. I was thinking of going back to Linux, but I would like to spend less time getting my workspace functional. How is the Windows subsystem for Linux working out? If I get an XPS 15 2-in-1 with the i9 processor, can I reasonably expect it to run Fedora or Elementary -- command-line RHEL is pretty much the only distro I've used in the past five years, so I have yet to pick a desktop option -- with no issues? I've probably got a year before I pull the trigger, but I was wondering how WSL was working out and given that the XPS 13 comes with Ubuntu as an option if there were any special gotchas with 2-in-1 or the XPS 15.

Fedora is not readily available. As of today These distributions are available on the online store

There are methods for building your own distro, using a cloud platform such as Docker.

I am trying to run wsl on a Dell 6410, it works fine for command line applications.

The 6410 does not have a GPU driver available to support X windows & WSL
