XPS 12 storage full
Hi,
I have 101GB of storage on my XPS C drive but less than 100MB space left. I have followed every procedure I can find to check storage, remove unwanted files, etc. etc. I have just 228MB used for apps and 370MB for documents. What is eating up all of this storage and how do I get it back??

Choose something from this list to tell you what folders are taking up the most space.

Thank you! I have run treesize but what do I do next? Is there a guide to tell you what to look for and what to do with it? I seem to have 60GB used by Systems Recovery and 25GB by Windows.

Turn off the system restore function - then reboot and turn it back on. It'll free up most of that 60 G.

Try running disc cleanup:

Hi, that's given me about 200MB more. I don't know if it helps but under System Recovery > Repair all of the files and folders say 'XXX back up'.
Any more ideas please?

If this system shipped with Windows 8 and the old Dell Backup and Recovery, is that still making backups? If so, stop it and delete the old backups (but you SHOULD back up -- on an external drive).
It makes little to no sense to backup the system to the root drive in the first place, but many of these were set to do so from the factory.

You will likely need to make the folder visible to delete it.

Thank you, I looked into this and it seems to be a big problem for many users. So, I uninstalled Dell System Recovery. I have also followed guidelines for deleting all old back up files and have turned all back ups off. However, TreeSize says I still have 60GB under C:System Recovery! I cannot see this folder in Windows Explorer. Any ideas what is happening? Thank you!!
