XPS 13 9300 - Error Code 511

Hi, my computer is out of warranty so I'm looking for suggestions on what to do. I have error code 511 (fan not responding), validation code 130402.

I tried updating BIOS but that didn't change anything. Do I need to replace the fan?

That would be the first step, yes -- replace the fan.

There are two separate fans in the system - you will want to pinpoint the one that has failed before ordering (try parts-people.com for one parts source).

Thanks. It says 'video fan' - does that narrow down which of the two it is?

They're only labeled as "A" and "B" and left and right in the service manual, but they are different.

Before ordering, check to see which one isn't spinning (remove the base cover).
