XPS 13 9300 touchpad issue

Hi,

recently I bought new XPS 13 9300 and this is how my touchpad is working. Is it normal for 9300? At the bottom, touchpad is working normally however on the top it is very hard to press and in the top corners it is almost unpossible. In the video you can also see how laptop/touchapd is bending at the top. Also my backspace key is much harder to press than the rest of the keys. Is it normal?

Video of touchpad problem

Thanks!

Hi @MichalPic ,

as far as the touchpad is concerned, I have the same behavior as shown in your video. I'd suggest that this is the "normal" behavior as, compared to a Mac touchpad (where the click is simulated) the Dell Trackpad is a real mechanical pad (hinge probably at the top). As I never use the physical click but rather the "tap" or "double-tap to lock", that doesn't bother me but that is obviously a very personal appreciation.

Regarding the Backspace key however, I can't say that mine to significantly harder to press that the other keys. No difference here on my side.

Only the bottom section (about 25%) clicks-down.

That is where your "2 mouse buttons are" ... but they aren't marked on this machine.

@MichalPic , my identical machine does not have this huge dip, it looks faulty to me.

I am having separate touchpad issues, I purchased my 9300 a few days ago. Video of issues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWDfFOOav7M

I am having the exact same issue as @yard with my XPS 13 9300. Any resolution?

Thanks in advance!

Mine does something similar as @MichalPic and when I'm trying to two-finger scroll on a webpage it will just stop working. I have to move my finger all over to see my pointer move again. This happens over and over. The skips are definitely some type of malfunction. Also, Dell didn't address it or talk about a solution.

I'm on my second XPS13. The touchpad on the second one is dying, as did my first one. The solution of changing the battery (swelling when old) didn't solve the problem. Going by my search results, DELL touchpad failures are sadly extremely common. Probably won't be a 3rd DELL in my ultrabook future.
