XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 huge standby problem
Hi, I got recently my new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 (i7, 16GB RAM, FHD, 512GB SSD), and I am thinking of returning it, mainly because of these 2 annoying reasons:
1. My bluetooth Logitech mouse has a strange lag I have never experienced before. It is not only when I don't move it for few minutes, as I thought at first, but it happens during normal continuous use as well. When I switch it from bluetooth to the wifi adapter, it works OK. So I can live with this (for now).
2. What I can not accept at all, is that (almost) every time the laptop goes to sleep, after some 10 minutes I feel that it's getting hotter, then the fan starts going to maximum rpm. The device is unresponsive at this point, I can not wake it, the only thing that works is hard-shutdown (holding the on/off key for 10 sec).
If I don't do anything, the battery is completely drained after some 2 hours and then it dies (no fans running, nothing).
Similar things happen if the device is plugged in: it gets hotter, fan starts, it is unresponsive, than I am guessing some failsafe kicks in, or the temp get too high, and I get the Dell SupportAssist (or whatever is the name) starts and scans for errors. It never finds anything, and I can restart the device.
I was hoping the latest BIOS published on the 18th would help, but alas... I have all the latest updates, both drivers and Windows 10.
Anyone having the same issues, maybe found a fix? For now, I have set the power options to never go to sleep, but to hibernate, and that helps (a bit). But of course, waking up takes longer...
Thank you!

The EXACT same thing has just started happening to me. First the mouse lag with a Microsoft Mobile Mouse. Drives me nuts when it hitches constantly.
The laptop I received had a clearly defective build which should have been easily caught, but to Dell's credit, a technician came to my house today and fixed it. Unfortunately, now the laptop gets super hot when closed and idle. After I open the screen, it's completely unresponsive (not even the keyboard lights up, despite the fan running at full RPM), and needs a hard reset to correct.
This was my first Dell, and I was excited for it. I'll be returning it and keeping my distance from now on.

Jared B For the standby problem, what seems to have worked for was disabling the Sign of life in the BIOS (the lighting of the keyboard) as suggested here. Dell support drove me in circle trying everything, so I can't be sure what worked in the end, but I am 95% sure it was disabling the Sign of life.
For the mouse lag... they are still driving me in circles

I'm having this whole set of issues as well. I'm super excited about this machine, but it's hard to get past all of these issues.

Have all this as well. I had the lag issues, and finally decided to relent and use a 2.4 mouse instead.
I’ve had my first machine replaced as I figured it was a complete lemon, but turns out the second one is plagued with issues as well... this is a pretty horrible PC.
