XPS 13 9310, charge light blinks

@Earl MagnusBy "calibrating" @DELL-Jesse L means to fully discharge the battery until the laptop shuts down and then fully charge it to 100%. He is suggesting to do this 3 times.

To be honest I find it quite worrying that Engineering is asking a customer to do this, given the fact that this is not healthy for the battery at all and doing it 3 times is quite some stress for the battery. You are basically asking customers to wear out their batteries despite the fact that 3 different users (2 in this thread and 1 here: https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/XPS-13-9310-Display-brightness-flicker-when-under-single-core/td-p/7823125) have confirmed the very same problem which indicates a firmware / hardware issue.
Engineering should first of all try to replicate the issue on a machine with identical specs with identical Bios configuration (AFAIK both users in this thread configure a custom charging threshold) and only if they fail to reproduce that issue customers should be suggested to do something like that.

So far it seems that the blinking LED is specific to the regular 9310 model, I have not seen this issue on the 9310 2-in-1.

However the display brightness flickering with turbo boost affects both the 9310 and the 9310 2-in-1 (as well as older models such as the 9300 and the 7390 2-in-1).

@DELL-Jesse L @Dell-Geoffrey R Please make some pressure that those problems get some attention. I am quite sure the blinking battery light will be fixable but the display brightness flickering is really a grave defect affecting many different XPS models. The reddit post is always kept up to date and collects all the info from different threads in a central place with all references.

I agree that this is a plausible explanation, the fact that I do not observe the blinking LED on the 2-in-1 model could also be due to the fact, that the 2-in-1 has the (weaker) i7-1165G7 while your model has the top of the line i7-1185G7 and maybe with the stronger i7 the problem is worse in the sense that it also causes the charging light blinking.
But this is really just speculation. Hardware / firmware engineers need to properly root cause both of these issues.

I do have the i7-1165G7 on my 9310 clamshell and notice the same LED behavior. I use custom thresholds 80% / 60%, and once it has charged to 80%, it will blink the LED from time to time.

As you know I am also affected by the screen flickering and right after buying the XPS I noticed the strange charging LED behavior, but I missed to correlate it with the screen flickering. Earlier I thought it might just be a bad firmware that does not use a proper hysteresis to switch the LED.

I've been in touch with Dell premium support this afternoon and I told them about those to 2 "turbo boost" (correlated?) issues.

I asked them again to share all the information gathered by Esokrates (thanks again to him for his work ) to the engineering. They confirmed to me it was done and we should have a feedback on tuesday.

The issue has been acknowledged by the product engineering team and they are currently working on a firmware. It will be released once it has been tested.

Our engineer team is still working on it and we still don't have an update on the solution but they they are working towards the issue being reported and that will be fixed may be by the firmware release.
