XPS 13-9380, chipset driver won't install, #4

Question

Intel Chipset 10.1.17903.8106 will just not install. I've tried through Dell SupportAssist / Dell Update / Dell website.  It either just hangs, and I need to hard reset or it fails saying unknown error. This machine is less than a week old.

This is a new system.

Was there a chipset error which prompted you to install that driver?
* Have you allowed Windows updates to run?
* What is the currently installed chipset driver version?

this issue has been seen on the XPS 13-9380 on three prior XPS 13-9380 threads. The Intel chipset driver has to be faulty. Wait for the next version of the Intel chipset driver.

Hi again, I've tried multiple different ways to install this driver update (10.1.17903.8106 A07):

- Dell website (standalone) ,extract and none extract. Admin and not.

- Dell Update

- Dell SupportAssist

. It runs the update, the network and audio icons show red crosses and it never actually finishes it's install. Looking through the logs, it potentially could be looking for the 64bit version of the chipset and hangs on trying to find it.

Once I quit the installer, I can't restart without a hard reset.

I've taken my machine back to factory settings and it still has the issue.

I can see others are having this problem too...

I've had power connected and removed any peripherals, I'm convinced that it's a driver install issue.

For now, I've not installed the update, but I keep getting reminded by Dell update to install it. Help.

I've tried literally everything to install this chipset driver, including resetting my device.  It just won't install.
