I suppose first, since we do not know your warranty situation, you contact Dell support by phone and discuss it with them. If it is an older system, it could be a battery situation. I assume you have left the system plugged in so the battery would charge, if it could.
I do not know if having the battery unplugged would keep the system from booting. Of course, the fact you get the battery message in the diagnostics could just mean it is disconnected.
Your statement about the system turning on when you plug in eternal power may be something the support folks would recognize.
Sorry it took so long for a response. Dell has just rebuild this site and some problems regarding notifications for new messages has crept in. One of the Dell folks may show up shortly.
Thank you for your message. We will be glad to assist you on this.
What is the status of the power button light when you turn on the computer? Does it blink in a particular pattern?
Please check if the primary hard drive is getting detected in BIOS & set BIOS to defaults.
Please click on the message tab – click new message & search for my Dell username (Dell-Sreejith R) & send a private message with the service tag, registered name & email address.
Me too. This is the second time it happens to me in the last month, the third since I bought this totally unreliable laptop. Windows' support is a total mess, Dell support is limited to 1y warranty, after that period they pretend it's not their product's fault.
