Hello,
I have the same issue, it appears randomly, especially on youtube video. A kind of glitch noise (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwnzygvHhGM)
I updated all drivers, but the issue remains
Cheers

For me it happens only during windoes sounds through the laptop speakers. Headphones sound fine. So its the speakers? No cause youtube sounds fine through the laptop speakers, so do my own mps files. So i dont know what it could be.

Yes, I have this too. It happens quite randomly every once it a while when watching a video (or otherwise have sound coming from speakers). It doesn't happen super often, but every time it does, I go back to the part of the video where it happened to see if it does it again and it doesn't (which definitely means it's the xps, not the video). It's not a compromising issue, but it is a little concerning. Have you found any solutions?

i wasn't able to fix it. The Dell tech helped me update all Dell drivers, bios and I installed all windows updates. but sound still happens. the only thing I can think of is that maybe the the audio uses different drivers for speakers and headphones and windows sounds uses an audio format that only microsoft uses and the drivers on this machine don't handle it well when using laptop speakers? who knows.

Hi,
I tried to remove the realtek driver, which was replaced by intel sound driver, and I still got crackling sound.
Also, I made a video with the Windows key+G function. I capture the crackling sound, but when I played back the recorded video, no crackling sound on that video.
Maybe it comes from motherboard finally, but Dell technician keeps asking me to update the BIOS and drivers...which I did several times without improving the situation. Pity because aside of this issue, all is working fine

I performed some more tests and this time in plane mode to be sure the issue is not coming from the WiFi card. So I played music file on VLC. I managed to record this crackling sound. Don't know if I can post this file somewhere here?

ok i heard it. does it happen at the same point of the song everytime you listen to it?
my problem is different however. for my problem, i have to listen to windows sounds (ie: control panel->sound->sounds) on the laptop speakers. and it sounds like there is distortion. but you can hear it even when the volume is low, just that the distortion is also low. but you can't hear it when using headphones.

The crackling noise happens at 2'55, then following by no sound at all for a second

post the file on a cloud storage site like google drop box, make the file public and post the link to it.

No when I play back the song it can be normal.
I thought it was only youtube or spotify but can happen offline as well.

I have the same problem with mine. Also, I had the same problem with my dell laptop from 12 years ago. Good to see they are still up. It's their crummy updates. I'm almost sure of it. They have no idea what they are doing. Also, they can't fix that flickering on youtube videos either. That's why they dropped the price 700 dollars since it's release.

due to the infamous trackpad problem, dell sent me a replacement laptop. the sound on that was fine. then i installed all the windows updates and the sound came back. so it seems its a windows update causing the problem.
