XPS 15 9500 touchpad

Question

My touchpad seems to be lagging or having some type of issue when being used. When I glide my finger across the pad, the mouse will follow then either stop and pause or click or double click. The touchpad will also not respond sometimes when I use the edge of the touchpad or it will highlight without clicking. Can anyone provide help?  I am a student and need this laptop before I go back to college on Jan 25th. I'm not sure if sending in my laptop to Dell will fit the time schedule.

Here are a few possible ideas:

It could be that you have a defective touchpad. I've heard that some early 9500 touchpads were defective. If yours is loose/wobbly/clunky, you might want to contact Dell for a replacement.
There are some reports of the XBox and/or Geforce Experience apps causing mouse pointer lag. You could try uninstalling these apps or adjusting settings as described in #2 and #3 here:

The palm of your hand might be brushing the touchpad and causing extra click events. If this is the problem, you might try adjusting settings as described in this response:
