XPS 15 9550, WiFi failure
I have encountered an annoying WiFi problem recently. It was like several days ago, when I started my computer, I found a red cross on the bottom right network icon. Not a single wifi network was detected, and no Dell Wireless 1830 card in the device manager list. And now the situation is I need to reboot and reset the network for a chance to get the WiFi to work properly. I have tried to update, uninstall, and reinstall the drivers while I can find the 1830 card in the list of device managers, but it didn't help. And other times I cannot even have access to the internet and the 1830 card. I've contacted support and they said it was probably a system issue. But I'm not sure. I've recently updated my BIOS, and I don't know why, but my Dell SupportAssist also fails every time.

Alex,
I had the exact same situation this morning not including the screen issues. I couldn't connect to the internet and got the same wireless drivers message you got. I "solved" the issue by rebooting the laptop and pressing F12 at start-up to enter the Safe Mode. I then selected "Diagnostics" from the left hand column and ran the program. Afte the first run through (2-3 minutes) a pop-up siad I had several errors. I clicked "OK" and nothing happened. So I ran the Diagnostics again. I wound up running the program 4-5 times until everything came up clear. I then exited and selected the option to exit and reboot. Magically, when the system started up again the wireless adapter was working and everything seems to be fine. Bizarre, for sure, but it's working. I'd give it a try if I were you.

Lisa,
Thank you for your response. I ran the diagnostics in safe mode for several times, and every time it said my computer was fine. However, after i rebooted the xps, the wifi still wouldn't work. Don't know if I need to reinstall the entire system or what.

* What BIOS version are you running? The latest is here
* Download and install this Intel 100 Series Chipset driver. When done, restart the Laptop
* Download and install this Dell Wireless 1820A 1830 WiFi driver. When done, restart the Laptop
* Then retest
* In what way is SA (SupportAssist) failing? What is it doing or not doing?
