XPS 15 9550 windows 10 build 2004 can't sleep or hibernate

I updated my xps this week to win10 2004, and now it cannot wake from sleep nor hibernate. It goes to sleep ok, and hibernates ok. Then when waking up from hibernation it just hangs before the spinning logo of windows appears and I have to force shutdown holding the button for 5 seconds, and reboot again.

I've seen countless threads of other models having similar issues. It can only sleep for short periods of time now, as it probably goes into hybrid sleep and then can't wake up.

This means that everytime I leave the PC, I lose everything I had open and need to start all over again losing my workplace layouts.

I've been hibernating windows for decades now, as it is the most convenient method for me, and I'm baffled to see 6 month old threads in the forum with no solution for this and Dell just saying that they'll look into it.

I've tried disabling fast startup, sleep, hibernation, hybrid sleep to no avail. This is hopeless really.

I have also reinstalled chipset drivers and power manager to no avail.
