XPS 15 9560, WD19, ethernet dropping

I recently purchased a WD19 dock to use my workplace's Dell XPS 15 9560 at home. Pretty solid dock... Except the dock's Ethernet connection drops every couple minutes or so when the laptop is locked. I figured this when I noticed three things. First, the laptop was connecting to the Wi-Fi every so often in my Ubiquiti UniFi controller. Second, the duration of the dock's Ethernet connection in Control Panel would only show a few minutes every time I checked. Finally, occasionally the Ethernet link lights would shut off for a second shortly after the monitors go to sleep after locking the laptop.

I'm seriously ripping my hair out trying to figure this out because I've done the following:

  • Adjust power settings in both Control Panel and Device Manager
  • Install "Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller Driver applicable for TB16, WD15, DS1000, TB18DC, WD19, WD19TB and WD19DC Dock" (version 2.45.2019.0221, A14)
  • Follow-up install "Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller Driver applicable for TB16, WD15, DS1000, TB18DC, WD19, WD19TB and WD19DC Dock" (version 2.45.2019.0417 ,A16)
  • Install "Realtek USB Audio Driver" (version 6.3.9600.2208 ,A14)
  • Install "Dell XPS 15 9560 System BIOS" (version 1.14.3,1.14.3)
  • Follow-up install "Dell XPS 15 9560 System BIOS" (version 1.15.0 ,1.15.0)
  • As part of troubleshooting, went into Device Manager, uninstalled below and rebooted so that the components would reinstall on their own:
    • The two “Generic SuperSpeed USB Hub” entries
    • The two “USB Hub” entries
    • Realtek USB GbE Family Controller
    • Realtek USB Audio
    • Realtek Audio Effects Component (USB)
    • USB Composite Device

The laptop works with the TB16 dock at my office with no issues. I also tried with my personal-use Inspiron 13 7370 laptop on the WD19 dock and it works with no issues.

I found out that if i drop my driver version down to the native Microsoft driver 10.5.920.2015, I have no issues. I have done this to 4 different devices that connect to Realtek GBE lan device and now all has been stable.

i also am seeing this issue but on a 5490 latitude, I have tested with both 130 and 180 wattage power supply.

both PS have same issues and are the same as described above,

DELL, what are your recommendations on this as i have also tried the same steps as above and nothing seems to change, but the weird part is that we have many wd19 but its only randomly happening on a few.

we are using windows 10 1903 enterprise but they show no signs of this using the 1219-lm on-board lan, seems to be only with the realtek gbe driver that is used on the dock.

So glad to see that someone is having that issue. I've been working with Dell support and they've been making me run in circles. They actually issued me an exchange, but unfortunately, the issue persisted.

I've only tried the newest driver and the previous driver since those actually indicate "WD19" in the description. Do you get MAC address passthrough with the older driver? Not a big deal if not since I'm using the dock at home, but would be nice to have.  Also, what's the date on that driver?
