XPS 15 9560
My 9560 is horribly slow and suffers constant disk churn which makes it unusable at times.
I only have 8Gb of RAM and the 1Tb hard drive so I am thinking of a 256Gb SSD and to install the OS on that to make life better assuming this is possible?
So if this is an option, I have been looking and Dell seem to think a "bumper" and cable pack is required as well as the SSD. Is this the case and if so, do I have other options than Dell as they're more expensive than elsewhere?
Are there any 25Gb drives that are much better than others?

If your plan is to replace the 2.5" hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD, it should be a drop-in replacement.
If you're installing an M.2 NVMe drive (which is the much faster option), remove the base cover and verify that the mounting screw for the drive is present. It may or may not be.
See "installing the solid state drive, full length" for installing an M.2 2280 NVMe drive.

Yes, but if you're cloning the original drive over to the new one, or installing a new copy of Windows to the new drive, remove the original drive before first boot (cloning) or before beginning the install (new install).
Once you've successfully booted the system for the first time, you can then reconnect the original drive.

Great, thanks for confirming. I like the sound of cloning if it is straightforward to do.
I'll be ordering one of those then

Thanks for the advice. Can I keep both the original HD and the SSD?
