XPS 15 9570 Can't Install BIOS Update

Dell Update shows a critical Bios Update dated June 21, 2019. I have tried several times to install it with no success. Today I tried installing it through Support Assist. I got the flashing dots and "Installing" for several hours. Finally there was a message that said drivers were installed and to re-start my computer. I did that. I just checked with Dell Update and it still shows the Bios Update as available. So apparently it wasn't installed. I have had this computer for about a month. It is my first Dell computer. When I got it, Dell Update said that there was an April BIOS update available. I tried to install that via Dell Update several times but was not successful. Does anyone have any suggestions? As I said, this is my first Dell computer so I am not familiar with the support that I can get from Dell.

@jostar1 thanks for reaching out to us. If the BIOS is not updating it could be a problem with the BIOS updater or possibly the motherboard itself.

I would recommend flashing the BIOS again to the current version you have installed before updating to the latest version and that may resolve the issue for you.

I would recommend manually installing the BIOS updates and ensuring you have at least 30% battery life before attempting it.

Hi jostar1,

Thanks for posting.  Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.

Updating the BIOS isn't always necessary unless you're having an issue with the computer even though some program suggests it.  Also, you don't have to use the Dell Update to install a driver or an update.  You can do it manually by going to the support page for your system and download it from the drivers page.

If you still require assistance and the system is under warranty, you may contact me privately. Be sure to include your personal information (name, address, telephone, email) and your computer's service tag number in your message. Thanks.

If there is no warranty, then you could contact our Out of Warranty team to get a quote for a paid service request.
