I've done all of this and still no control panel. super frustrating as my screen is flickering randomly and there's supposed to be an option in the control that resolves this so I'm not thrilled I have to do this dance just to fix a stupid flickering issue

Hi eman86,

Thanks for posting.  Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.

Unfortunately video issues can be from several sources and can be either hardware or software, and could be either the GPU or the LCD that has the problem.

First thing to do would be to run Systems Diagnostics, either by pressing F12 at startup or running SupportAssist.  Make a note of any error messages encountered and post back.

Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop and see if you're getting the same results.  If so, then it's probably the GPU, if not it may be the LCD with the problem.

If you still require assistance and the system is under warranty, you may contact me privately. Be sure to include your personal information (name, address, telephone, email) and your computer's service tag number in your message. Thanks.

If there is no warranty, then you could contact our Out of Warranty team to get a quote for a paid service request.

it's under warranty still, it's only a month old. I have a docking station connected to it so it's the GPU for sure.

SupportAssist won't install on my laptop, already tried to, it complains about my internet not working when it does

SupportAssist finally installed on my machine, maybe I picked the wrong one before

looks like my flickering issue is with my Dell docking station, I'll have to have my IT manager return it and get a new one. still a little annoyed the control panel isn't showing up and I can't use the one in the windows store (and I have a touch screen so that's not the issue)
