XPS 15-9570, headset mic not recognized

Hey all.

I am attempting to use my gaming headset, which has separate microphone and sound plugs, on my XPS 15 9570. I am using a splitter to conjoin the microphone and sound into one connection which I can then plug into the device.

The drivers are recognizing my headphones just fine, and are playing audio through them adequately. The problem is the microphone. The laptop seems to be defaulting to the 9570's built-in microphone rather than the headset microphone. I have tried a fresh install of the Realtek HD Audio Drivers and this has not changed the issue.

I assume that this is a software issue, since my headphones are being recognized through the splitter, and that something can be configured somewhere. Any info helps.

Thanks.

Hi Envied,

Thanks for posting. Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.

Have you tried running the Audio Recording Troubleshooter?

Here is information from the Dell knowledgebase you may find helpful:

Same for me, I have a HyperX Cloud and it does not recognize the external microphone since a few days... maybe it's a bad update that could be the culprit.
