XPS 17 9710, not using main power when dock connected
Hi everyone,
The discussion here suggests seamless functionality of the main power adapter when a dock is connected:

However, nearly half the time my system will stop charging at 130w once the dock is connected. Sometimes unplugging/replugging is enough, but often it doesn't help. Is there somewhere to see and/or manually adjust which power source the computer is using?
Dell XPS 9710 with 130w adapter
HP Elite USB-C Dock with 65w PD
Thanks

Explain this =
"However, nearly half the time my system will stop charging at 130w once the dock is connected."
Are you saying, "nearly half the time my XPS 17 9710 will stop charging USING the provided 130w power adapter once the HP Elite USB-C Dock and its power adapter is connected." ?
If yes, how do you know where the power is originating, the XPS 17 9710 power adapter or the HP Elite USB-C Dock power adapter?

Unplug and remove base cover. Disconnect the battery. Hold the power button for 30 sec.
Verify that the LED on the AC adapter is on before you plug in the notebook end. If it's not, replace the adapter.
If the adapter checks out (LED on), plug in the notebook (no battery). If it'll power up, but won't with the battery connected, the battery is bad.
If it still won't power up on AC only, the mainboard is bad.
