XPS 7590 problems..
below is my 10 or 15th mail between premium support and me:
first of all i am a software developer and travelling a lot. that's why I bought this laptop.
I installed all updates from dell and microsoft. and also have the latest intel graphics drivers etc..
so please do not ask them again and again and again..
- after the latest bios update via dell update utility, the device freezes randomly at any time. sometimes while surfing with chrome , sometimes while developing an application with visual studio.
it takes from 1-2 seconds to 20-30 seconds.. there is no pattern on it. its totally random..
- while device plugged into charging, and the brightness set to lowest or 1 level before lowest, left side of the display flickers randomly, but when you make it brighter, it does not happen.
but when you work at night, its impossible to use the device on brighter screen, you have to dim lower, and when the display flicks randomly, its not possible to work.. when i search dell support forum, many users had the same and there is no solution yet (almost 2 months passed)
- the device does not "really" sleeps when you select sleep. it seems it sleeps when you select it on windows or when you close the lid. but after 2-3 minutes, it suddenly starts working (it is called smart/modern sleep)
this device does not have s3 sleep function on bios thus, it tries to connect network etc..
one day it was on my backpack and it opened itself and the fans starts also. it was in a close environment in backpack. i took it back and when we touch the surface of the laptop, it was nearly 200 degree Celsius and the battery drained completely.
now i can not trust the device because if i let it sleep, i start thinking it may explode because of high temperature. (also there are many issues about this problem on dell support forum)
- while using the device, if turbo boost is enabled on bios, the device temperature increases and comes 90-102 degree celsius on all cores.. (I already send the pictures of it to your support). when you disable turbo boost , everything goes well. but i can not use it without turbo boost, the speed decreases to 2.4 ghz, so why did I paid that much to this laptop if i cant use turbo boost.
- as i said, i am a software developer, and i am using docker virtualization. but on this laptop, docker desktop is not working. it says "enable virtualization, enable vtd , enable hyper-v etc etc", all of them enabled (vtd and cfg lock does not exists on bios by the way) but still docker is not working on this laptop.(check docker support forum, you will see many people having same problem on different dell xps series laptops)
I told all these issues to your support team and guess what they do:
- for the screen flickering problem, one of your team members connected to my computer and set the brightness to %50 and said "some modifications made on laptop and problem solved" :))) am i stupid , or she is?
- for the temperature problem, they asked me to use the device without turbo boost.
- they asked me to make cpu and gpu burner test and i made it (first they offered an application to do that, but there were no burner test on that app, they even dont know what they suggest or offer, then they changed it to another app), the dell support app does not showed any issue.
technical support does not have "technical" knowledge, they are all ordinary call center guys. they really dont care what you are talking about.
I have next day premium support but when i send an email, they everytime returns after 5-6 days.
I have extra "international premium support" and "giant" dell says that they can not call outside usa, even very small companies calls on any problem . (9-10 months of the year, i am outside usa)
I asked for a full refund but no one says anything about that (if I can or can not)
now the docker desktop and freeze problem started..
when anyone asks about dell xps series, I told to get away from it.. DONT BUY IT IF YOU ARE A DEVELOPER , DESIGNER, VIDEO EDITING PROFESSIONAL ETC...
you are asking me for a video , what you want from me is to get ready my phone every time and wait till it freezes on any time in whole day..
just check your support forum website and you will see many people having the same problem on "same laptop"
so here are some dell support links that many people have the same problem with me..
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Dell-backtracks-on-XPS-15-9570-S3-sleep-fix.423082.0.html (this device is 9570 but same problem)
https://www.letstalk-tech.com/fix-dell-xps-15-laptop-display-flickering/ (follow the replies also)
so xps 7590 is the worst laptop i had in all my life..
i regret not buying lenovo x1 carbon or extreme gen2

worst laptop purchase ever made. And dell only gives you a 21 day return policy from invoice so by the time you get it, you only have a few days to test it out. Overall there ability to rectify the issue was crap. I will never buy from dell again and make sure to let everyone know of there shady return policy and poor craft in making laptops

I am as you, suffering from this horrible computer.
It was around 3000$ but my old XPS from 5 years back works BETTER than this piece of . Same as you, a backend developer, need the speed and quality of a normal working PC and not getting stuck every zoom chat I do!

Thank you for reaching out to us and I am extremely sorry to hear that you have been facing an issue with the Dell machine.
Could you please briefly explain the issue, and I would also request you to share the system service tag through the private message. ^AJ

Hey,
I had the same issues before, with the screen flickering, overheated laptop, bluetooth choppy audio, colour accuracy thing etc. I did sfc/scannow in Command Prompt and it fixed everything for me. I had no problems with this laptop ever since...

The issue is explained above + all over the internet.
1. Wifi connectivity problems a couple times a day
2. Half monitor flickering
3. Freezes randomly 50+ times a day for seconds.
4. Freezes randomly for 1-2 times a day for 10+ seconds.
5. When in a share-screen state(skype, zoom or whatever), freezes each keystroke.
I mean, 32gb, and more, and still none stop problems. I moved using my old XPS (from 5+ years ago) because xps 7590 is bugged, broken machine(for everyone as I see it).

Thank you for providing the information. I understand you should have already tried the updates on the system. However, I would request you to try the following steps.
1. Does updating the wireless drivers and wireless application from https://dell.to/34DcMeI and https://dell.to/2Vclwpg makes any difference?
2. Is the BIOS up to date? If not can you update it to the lastest?
3. Is the freezing irrespective of the AC adapter plugged and unplugged?
4. Does updating the video drivers to latest makes any difference? ^MP

HELLO
I HAVE YOUR SAME PROBLEM.
AT THIS MOMENT MY COMPUTER IS IN SERVICE BUT FOR THE SECOND TIME THE MOTHERBOARD AND THE SSD HAVE CHANGED (UNNECESSARY).
HAVE YOU SOLVED THE PROBLEM OR EVEN YOU WILL NOT GIVE YOU THE POSSIBILITY OF RETURNING THE COMPUTER / REPLACING IT?

i have international on site premium support..
they offer to change display, mainboard etc..
but this is a brand new laptop and i had the problems since first day i buy..
they dont replace the device, they dont answer "next day".
they dont take the laptop and refund ..
the usa support is awful, the guys at there dont understand anything..
you are telling apple, they understand banana.. and giving solution for banana..
so i changed my support country to istanbul/turkey..
they are better then them..
but still all problems same..
i completely format the hard drive, all partitions, install everything from ground zero.. only microsoft updates and dell update utility suggested updates..
i installed all bios updates, firmware updates etc.. freezing problem is more less now..
i am using an undervoltage application, so it helps a little bit for overheating.. but still it exists..
i suggest you to sell this laptop and buy an lenovo x1 carbon or x1 extreme gen 2.. i will do the same..

Start the computer and tap the F12 key. Choose ePSA DIAGS. Also, connect your computer the support assist app and have the system checked and issues resolved. To verify if SupportAssist is installed, perform the following:
If the program is not installed click here for information to install the Support Assist app.

same happens here..
what you can do, completely format the hard drive, delete all recover partitions, install windows 10 version 1903 (1909 preferred). just install normal windows updates, then install dell update utility, install updates that dell update found.. most of the freezing problem will be solved (still have freezing 1-2 times per week)
overheating still exists..
flickering still exists (i cant work with flickering so i am started using external monitor and TB16 dock)
