XPS 9310 Developer Edition Fingerprint Reader Stopped Working at Login After 2 Months
The fingerprint reader on my XPS 9310 Developer Edition (Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS) used to work ok at Login with only occational glitches.
However, recently it stopped working. In particular, in the login window, I can't log in with fingerprints any more. It simply won't response no matter how I swipe my finger. Strangely, I can still enroll fingerprints in the Settings -- Users panel after logging in. It seems that the fingerprint reader won't work at the startup.
The fingerprint reader uses the libfprint-2-tod1-goodix driver (version 0.0.4-0ubuntu1somerville1).
The hardware is currently listed as:
*-usb:0 UNCLAIMED
description: Generic USB device
product: FingerPrint
vendor: Goodix
physical id: 3
bus info: usb@3:3
version: 1.00
capabilities: usb-2.00
configuration: maxpower=100mA speed=12Mbit/s
What could be the problem here? Is it something to do with the new version of the driver? Thanks.
