XPS 9360 WiFi connection problems

I had a lot of the common problems with WiFi dropping out etc on this device so I replaced the Killer WiFi card with an Intel one recommended online. However, I'm still having problems connecting to my main WiFi network, in fact it's even worse than before.

What's confusing is that my other devices have no problems connecting to the same WiFi and my laptop has no problems when connected to the mobile data hotspot from my phone. What is it about the specific relationship between the laptop/wifi card and modem that is breaking? It's a virgin media 2.4ghz modem for context.
