The 9700 has 2 SODIMM slots so to go to either 32GB or 64GB, you will have to buy a kit of 2 RAM modules and remove the existing RAM modules. You need DDR4 2933 RAM modules and any Quality PC shop can do the upgrade. The specs for the 9700 are listed here.

One more suggestion. The most compatible RAM for Dell can be found at Crucial. The page for a RAM upgrade for your system can be found here.

If I already have the orginal 16 gb of ram and want 32 gb, can't I just install another 16 gb?
