XPS can’t boot
Hi,
My 2017 XPS 15 9560 can’t boot, LED orange / white flashing pattern is quite difficult to recognize (flashing very rapidly without stable rythme) but the closest I can get is 2 orange and 3 white flashing. I read that this means RAM is bad. Moreover I noticed that certain area at the motherboard got burnt (photo attached).
Any ideas why did this happen?
How can I fix it, the cheapest way?
…or it’s better to get a whole new laptop?

It's either replace the system board or replace the system.
The boards will run anywhere from $300 or so for an integrated video board with an i3 CPU to over twice that with an i7 and discrete video. Some suppliers (parts-people.com) will supply a 1-year warranty on the replacement board. If you have to add labor to that (i.e., you don't replace the board yourself), coupled with the age of the system may make system replacement a better idea.
This system is pushing 7 years old -- a major repair to a system that age makes less than compelling economic sense.

Press the Power button on your Dell XPS 13 laptop. Press the F12 key repeatedly to prompt the One Time Boot Menu. Select Diagnostics and press Enter . If there are any issues, the diagnosis will display error codes.

Thanks for the reply.
Do you think the motherboard replacement would let me keep my original RAM and GeForce GTX graphics ? I mean, is it highly possible that they were damaged as well, along with the motherboard?

Can’t even boot to that point. Just orange-white flashing of power LED.
