XPS13 9370 does not boot

Hi all,

I have some trouble with my ~2 year old Dell XPS13. Yesterday evening I shut it off with about 20-30% battery remaining and this morning it would not boot into windows. I reach the Dell logo, and the moving circle below stops after a couple of seconds after which he tries again.

I'm not sure what to do now, this is what I have done so far: the Dell diagnostics and windows diagnostics did not give any error messages. I reset the BIOS, this did nothing as well. I did the startup repair in windows recovery, but it said it couldn't repair my pc. It said that the logfile was saved to the a logfiles folder in system32 in the c drive. I tried to open this txt file via command prompt in windows recovery, but it said the the file was corrupted and unable to be opened. This is something that bothers me, since I wasn't able to see any files on the C drive. When I opened the commandprompt it was set to x:\windows\system32, what exactly is this x-drive?

Is it possible that I have a hardware error? My laptop does make some very small sounds which I don't think I have heard before. However, all diagnostic test said nothing was wrong with the drives.

I also tried to reinstall windows via reset PC in windows recovery but this does nothing: I don't think it actually reinstalls windows because it sais 'getting things ready' for about 3 seconds and it then quits. Note that I did it with retaining data (tried it multiple times). Note that I have all peripherals disconnected from my laptop, only the power cable is attached. Anyone have an idea what I could do now, or what might be wrong?

Unplug the system, remove the base cover and disconnect the battery from the system board.  Hold the power button for 30 sec.

Try powering up on AC only.  If it will, plug in the battery and see if it'll power up. If it won't, the battery is bad;  replace it.

If it still won't power up, the mainboard is bad.

I reinstalled Windows via Dell recovery and it works perfectly now, however I wasn't able to save my data.
