Xps 15 9570 uhd battery - replace 97whr with 56whr (9560)

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows if I can replace the bigger battery for the smaller one from a xps 15 9560 model, so I can add additional storage via another ssd? Would the battery from the 9550 work?

Additional storage is more important than battery life as its always plugged in at work.

Also, can't seem to find a parts number for the 56whr battery for the 9570 model. Anyone know it?

Cheers!

This page should help with the part number. They appear to be out of stock at the moment but the battery should work.

You should be able to retrofit the smaller battery, although I don't know if the 9550 battery would work.  But if you want to install another SSD, if the 9570 is like the previous XPS 15 models, you'll also need to order the 2.5" bracket and ribbon cable.  And then of course you can only install a 2.5" SATA SSD, not an NVMe SSD.

Thanks jphughan,

Yeah  already have the bracket and a 1tb PNY ssd 2.5 from my Precision. Just concerned about the battery from an older model. Don't want to fry anything in the new laptop  I might just try my precision 5510 56Wh battery  It's fairly new.

Thanks JOcean, so the 9550 battery will work in my 9570 laptop?

Also, forgot to mention  I have a precision 5510  that has the 56Wh battery. Just wondering if that would work.

Bit nervous about testing on my new laptop.

Thanks!

Wish I could switch with you. Mine come with smaller battery and battery is more important than storage for me.

Battery from 9550 working but isn't charging. I tested at my 9570.

Yeah, I tried my 5510 battery. Same problem, it works but doesn't charge.

Yeah, good idea. But I've already given up on replacing my bigger battery. I've just set my SSD as an external device. Almost as good. Thanks!
