My current laptop is: Dell XPS 9560, Board: 0YV12N A02.

Yes, you can simply replace the old SSD with the Samsung model. Just did so as well with a Dell XPS 15 (9570) and the Samsung SSD is faster and yet cooler than the one by SK Hynx.

The SK Hynix PC300 the OP currently has is an M.2 NVMe SSD.  The Samsung 860 Evo the OP asked about is M.2 SATA, so it is highly unlikely that it will be faster.

@Rojjas90, if you want to avoid a potentially massive performance downgrade, you should look at the Samsung 960 Evo, which is M.2 NVMe.  It will likely be more expensive, but it will also be significantly faster.  Take a look at benchmarks of the 860 Evo vs. the 960 Evo and see for yourself.  There's also a newer 970 Evo, but some people have been reporting here that they don't work in certain Dell systems, even systems where the 960 Evo worked fine.  It's not clear what the problem is, and I don't remember whether anyone has tested a 970 Evo in an XPS 15 9560 yet.  I know some XPS 13 models are a problem, and that a newer Dell G5 laptop works just fine with the 970.
