Latency "fixes" vary and are elusive. I see reports on recording forums where some name brand PC's were solved and others that weren't. I was never able to tame the Latency and random audio dropouts on my Inspiron 15 Gaming 5577 laptop. However, the 5577 came with an M.2 2280 SSD and space to add either a laptop hard drive or full size SSD. I had a spare SSD so installed that and made a dual boot system. One OS is the original unmodified Dell disc image and the other is for recording and only has Win 10, needed device drivers and recording software. If I want to use the laptop for general use I boot to the Dell image. If I want to use it for recording I boot to the recording image.
The DPC Latency program is invalid for Win 10. Only use the Resplendence Latency Mon program.

Hello,
I had spent a lot of time on this topic and was about to resell my XPS17 9700 (Nvidia 2060).
However today, I did some last tries and removed windows 10 'onedrive' service:
Since then the ACPI.SYS which was reaching 4ms DPC routine exec time after 1 minute,
is now for several reboots and after 30 minutes each at 0,4ms max running several Cinebench 23 tests and listening to music in Spotxxx. (with wifi disabled).
At some point I launched CPUID HWMonitor and it went back up to 1,5ms but I repeated the tests without and it is back to 0,4ms stable.
Guess I will not sell it, good to know if it can help , after having tried every trick mentioned (limiting turbo, speedstep, hyper threading, setting max 99% CPU on power plan, disabling antivirus).
Good luck

@PanosBE Hey, I know this is May 3, 2024, but I wanted to add this note for other users.
Like you, I just purchased a new XPS17 9730 and I love, love this laptop. However, and it is a GARGUNTUAN HOWEVER, I ran in to the same lag which also caused programs to run much slower.
I then went to your punchline about removing OneDrive (which doesn't say if it's Windows 10 or 11) and voila --- I am experiencing completely normal typing and process times!!!
Thank you so much for doing the leg work to get to the bottom of it!

PS: I've never been a fan of any cloud storage. With all the hackers, spammers and phishers out there, it's dicey at best and especially now where we are seeing an exponential amount of bad acting activity. NO Thanks.
