If the drive has already been marked failed, nothing. The rebuild continues taking place using the surviving drives of a parity-type RAID, or the mirror drive with a mirror-type RAID.
Pulling a failing drive while proactive hot sparing was involved would be different.
The white paper "White Paper: The Effect of Priorities on LUN Management Operations" contains a description of the Rebuild process. In addition, the "EMC CLARiiON Storage System Fundamentals for Performance and Availability" contains a briefer explanation of Rebuild and Proactive Hot Sparing processes.
