Go to SolutionAlienware Laptop Feedback
I just want to leave some feedback regarding my experience with Alienware computers. I bought my first Alienware laptop almost 5 years ago. I got the 17" model, but I quickly returned it when I found out it had a key pad on the side of the keyboard and it forced you to type with your hands off-set to the center of your body when it sits on your lap. I can't stand that. I hate it. It's a terrible design. So I quickly returned it in favor of the 15" model and I was instantly happier. Now it's time to replace my laptop and I went back to Alienware again. This time, much to my dismay, Dell has stopped offering their Alienware laptops in the 15" size. Now it's either 14" or 17". Problem is the 17" ones and bigger still have that absolutely terrible off-set keyboard to accommodate the number pad. (Let me be clear, I will *never* buy a laptop with an offset keyboard - ever.) So my choice was to buy a computer from some where else, or to buy the smaller Alienware. Let me just say that this Alienware is surprisingly under-whelming. 14" is just too small for a gaming laptop. Sure it's great for portability, but the screen is just too small. Furthermore, the smaller size is obviously limiting your ability to beef up the laptop. I regularly play a game called MarvelHeroes. I was hoping that I could turn the graphics setting up one more notch from medium to high (there still being one more level above high) with a laptop that's almost 5 years newer than my old one, but because of the anemic 2G of ram on the video card I can't. So basically, for my use, this new laptop isn't an upgrade - it's a down grade. I get something 5 years newer that can't out perform something 5 years old with a much smaller screen. Please either bring back the 15" model or offer a 17" model that doesn't have the off-set keyboard. I'm going to keep the 14" laptop that I just bought, but I'll admit that I'm woefully disappointed by it.

Alienware makes an model with an 18" screen. The keyboard is perfectly centered. Have you looked at this unit? I'm enclosing a link to their page.

You maybe right, but looking at a model when your hands are sitting on the keyboard the touch pad is basically centered.
...but I understand what you are saying, unfortunately there is nothing I can do to assist you. As a matter of fact, I didn't even notice it until you posted you post. Sorry you are disappointed in your system, hopefully you will get used to it and will enjoy using it.

Then you guys *really* need to update the photos on your website. The pictures of the 18" clearly show the touch-pad off-set to the left of the center of the computer and the qwerty part of the keyboard positioned to the left of center lined up with the touch--pad. With a number pad there's no way *not* to have the keyboard off centered.
Even if the 18" didn't have an offset keyboard (which the pictures clearly indicates that it does) I'd still prefer the 15" model.
The 15" model was perfect. Please bring it back.
Please, please, please. The only thing I need you to do to make me happy is to send my feedback to the Alienware design team.
Please let them know that you have, at the least one, customers that do not like laptops that have mouse pads and keyboards that are off-set o the left to accommodate a number pad.
Please tell them that people (at least myself) want to see the M15 brought back.
Finally, please let them know that you have gotten complaints (this is a complaint) that one of their "high-end gaming machines" only offers a video card with 2G of ram. When I bought the computer I had no idea that would be so limiting.
If you still offered the 15" I would have bought it. I'm certain I would be much happier with it.
The 14 is fine. It works great as a replacement, but it's not an upgrade over the old Alienware M15s. Lots of people have the 15" model. I'm willing to bet a lot of them bought it for the same reason I did, and if that's true, they aren't going to be happy with the 14" for the same reason that I'm not.
So please, all I'm asking you to do, is send my comments along to someone who can do something about it.
Thanks.
I'm sorry. A sales manager directed me to this forum telling me it would be a great place to leave my feedback. Shortly after I posted it, it got moved (I'm not even certain where it's at now). So I have no idea where it's supposed to go.
Thank you for providing me with the information I need to be able to get my comments onto the powers that be.
I'm disappointed to hear that there aren't any plans to release a 15" model anytime soon. Is there any chance (or plans) for them to release a bigger model (such as their 17" model) with a keyboard that doesn't have a number pad? (Because that would be just as good.)
Thank you!

This is the wrong venue for your complaint. The Alienware marketing team will never see this. I can tell you that there is not a 15" Alienware laptop on any road map that I have seen. Post your wishes for a 15" laptop on IdeaStorm.
