I have a Dimension E310 that I had to move. I unplugged my USB keyboard and mouse, and after I plugged them back in they stopped working. I am running XP, and it seems to be a Dell driver problem.

 

When windows boots up, it reports 'found new hardware - human interface device', and there are a few dialog boxes on the bottom right hand side of the screen saying Found New Hardware - DELL USB MOUSE, etc etc.

 

Since the drivers aren't installed (they uninstalled themselves???), the keyboard and mouse won't work.

 

Just to get this out of the way: It's not a mouse or keyboard hardware problem. Those work fine in Dell diagnostics and in BIOS. I didn't change anything except for taking them both out and putting them both back in.

 

I am fairly knowledgeable about computers, but I have NO ideas to fix this problem, because I can't do anything on the computer!!! Help would be greatly appreciated.
