I have an older Dell Dimension 8400, Pentium 4, 3.20GHz, that has been running REALLY slow.  It is running XP and I don't have any desire to upgrade anything.   I just keep it as a back up computer, but my husband would like to use it once in a while.

I ran scans, malware, disc cleaner, defragmentaion.  Still slow.  Uninstalled a few programs I don't use anymore.   Yesterday, when I turned it on, I got the warning about the battery running on low power.  I followed all the instructions for changing the battery.  I took pictures of all the necessary screens, so I could make sure everything was the same after.

After I changed battery and I was comparing set up screens, I noticed that the computer is "Hyperthreading Capable," but on later screen, hyperthreading is disabled.  Should I enable it?  Will that help?  In looking for an answer, I see that I am not the only one who had this question.
