Memory help needed for XPS 420
Our 2 year old Dimension 8400 media desktop died last May. After four visits by a Dell authorized technician who virtually replaced everything inside, the computer just simply gave up in November 2008 - it would simply shut down, and never stay on. Dell replaced the 8400 with an XPS 420 which arrived Dec 24th.
When we were told we would receive a new computer with Vista installed, I said NO, NO, NO, but Dell told me that only Vista would work on the XPS 420. OKay, we'll try it. Because the 8400 hundred only had 1 G memory, Dell only supplied us with 1G of memory which we all know is insufficient. We need at least 3 G so we can multitask (we layout and publish books). We are constantly being shut off the internet because we have no memory available.
Dell finally offered to send a tech out to install 2, 1G memory cards as they recognized their faulty replacement requirements. (because 1G was in the Dimension 8400, they would only give us 1G of memory for the XPS 420 - which was not enough). We were given a case number and dispatch number. After a few days, I contacted Dell (not fun) and asked where our memory cards were...I was told that the case was cancelled by someone in Round Rock Texas.
I AM SO FRUSTRATED I CAN'T STAND IT. No one returns our calls. When talking with a tech, I am told that we have to go to a level two supervisor but no one at that extension answers or returns our calls. Does anyone have any idea as to how I can get in touch with someone who can fix this situation? Seriously, we need help here...we are in desperate mode and are being hampered from doing our work for about a month now!!!!
HELP, HELP! Judy
