My Inspiron 6000 is 2 years old and has developed monitor flickering.  I have reduced resolution from 1280 x 800 to 1024 x 768.  This delays the flickering from occuring within 30 minutes of computer turn on to over 6 hours.  The flickering consists of very brief blank screen of less than 1 second progressing to blank screens lasting more than 30 seconds.  The reduced resolution affects the clarity of pictures to the extent I can't edit them.

 

I am wondering if the screen flickering is due to a weak memory module and if it is how do I confirm that is what causing my flickering and how do I change it out? 

 

Are there other procedures to trouble shoot the flickering?
