I have been using my Inspiron 8600 with a video projector to do lesson plans at school.  I just plug in the video projector and I have PowerPoint available on both the big screen and my laptop screen.  At least, until yesterday.

Yesterday I had video to my laptop screen only if the projector was not attached.  With the projector attached I had to us the fn/f8 combo to transfer the image to the projector, but I lost it on the laptop.

Today, I have no image on my laptop period.  I have to plug in an external monitor to even operate the system.  I have gone to CONTROL PANEL and DISPLAY.  I have attempted to establish the #2 monitor, but each time I select it to be "attached" and then click APPLY, the system goes back to not recognizing it.

In fact, the #1 monitor is now the video output to the external monitor or video projector.  How do I get this thing back to normal?
