Dell Moderator - please respond to this message.

 

II got an e-mail in my inbox that I have not used with Dell in the past.  It said that a specific AC Adapter for Inspirons and/or Latitudes are faulty and directed to www.delladapterprogram.com for more details.  My concern is that the e-mail address was never registered with Dell, although I do have a Inspiron 3500, one of the models listed in the message.  I used a yahoo address with Dell and the message came to my work e-mail, via forwarding from my alma mater (permanent e-mail forwarding).  Also a whois check on the website as well as the originating e-mail address @dellpfr.com, do not list Dell as the owner, but another company.

 

Dellpfr.com looks very crude (fuzzy dell logo) and starts off asking for ID and password.  delladapterprogram.com looks official, but off course anyone with decent html skills could fake it.

 

Is this a phishing scam?

 

I've had a few problems with my ac adapter, but I think that's with age (now a 6 year old overused machine), versus an inherent problem.
