For users returning to this thread, you'll need new information. An Inaccessible Boot Device message indicates that your operating system was detected, but unable to boot from the drive. In most instances, you can recover the system and get Windows to load correctly. However, in some instances you may need to reinstall Windows or replace your hard drive. See the below info for troubleshooting steps:

    1. Load the BIOS Defaults:

      • Sometimes, BIOS settings can cause boot-related errors. Try resetting your BIOS to default settings. Be cautious if you’ve made any custom changes to your BIOS, as you’ll need to reapply them afterward.
      • To reset BIOS:
        • Restart your laptop.
        • When it boots up, press the F2 key to access the BIOS setup.
        • Select Load Defaults or Restore Settings towards the bottom of the page.
        • Select BIOS Defaults
        • Click Apply changes and exit the BIOS.
      • Reboot your system and check if it boots normally.

    2. Switch your SATA Operation
      1. Enter the BIOS
      2. Click on Boot Configuration
      3. Switch between RAID On and AHCI, save and reboot
      4. Test if the issue is resolved
      5. If unresolved, switch back to the original setting that was selected when you entered the BIOS
      6. Test again to see if the issue resolved back on the original SATA Operation setting
    3. Reseat the HDD/SSD:

      • If the error persists, try reseating the hard drive (HDD) or solid-state drive (SSD). This involves unplugging and then reconnecting the drive.
        • Note: Reseating hardware components can be complex. Consult your system manual or seek professional assistance if needed.
        • Remember to back up important files before attempting this step if able to do so.
    4. Restore the Operating System:

      • Use SupportAssist OS Recovery to reinstall the OS.
      • After the recovery or reinstallation, your system should boot normally.

    5. Contact Dell Support:

      • If you still need assistance, please contact support by clicking the ‘Get Help Now’ button located at the bottom right corner of the page. The button is marked with a help icon for easy recognition as per the picture below:

Run the Diagnostic tool on system by following steps below:

    1. Power off system and then disconnect all peripherals - Printer, external drive, flash drive, etc....)

    2. Power on system, quickly start tapping the F12 key continuously. In the boot menu, stroll down to diagnostic and then click on it. After quick tests, click on Hard Drive and then click 'Thorough Test Mode'. Report back any error code.

If you haven't created a recovery drive, try to get the windows recovery image to pop up on system. You can then click on Advanced Options, Troubleshoot, and then enter chkdsk /f/r in the command prompt.

I'd suggest you quickly backup all your important stuff to either a external drive, flash drive or some type of paid backup software such as Acronis.

To get that Recovery image to show up:

Power on system, wait about 5 minutes and then power off system using the hard reset / power button. Keep turning the computer on and off until you see your computer booting into the automatic repair screen. It should only take a few reboots.

Please help! I am having the same problem with the crash screens. I have no idea what's happening. All I have installed is steam, but no games. I'll just be browsing the internet and it will give me the blue screen. It's happened maybe 10 times. I ran the diagnostics and then also the hard drive diagnostics and no errors popped up. Any ideas?

Please list Dell model number and version of windows. Ex: Dell Inspiron 3543, windows 10

If you don't know, type msinfo32 onto the search box and then stroll down to System Model. You should see the exact Dell model number.

In the meantime, the stop code blue screen started occurring recently? The blue screen happen before installing Stream? You tried a different browser to see if the blue screen still occurred? Or what is the browser you are using ? Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge?
