Monitor Advice
On my desk I currently have a Dell P2419 Monitor and an iMac. I also have a Dell Laptop and Dell Desktop.
I primarily use the Dell monitor to extend my Dell laptop (7420) screen via HDMI.
The Dell Desktop (5000 series) is connected to the monitor via DP and is the primary display for the desktop.
The iMac is also connected to the Dell monitor via USB-C which I use occasionally to extend the Mac screen.
I use Dell Display Manager on the Dell Laptop to easily switch between inputs depending what I want displayed on the Dell monitor.
The above scenario currently works well.
I am thinking of getting a Mac Mini to replace my aging iMac and at the same time replace the Dell Monitor with two new Dell Monitors which will be daisy chained.
I want to continuing using the same kit I am now, so if I buy a pair of new Dell monitors can I do the following?
- Continue using the laptop to extend to the left hand screen of the pair of monitors with the option to also be able to use the right hand screen via the daisy chain? Either USB-C or HDMI?
- For the desktop use the left hand screen as the primary display with the option to also be able to use the right hand screen via the daisy chain? I'm guessing this would be via DP?
- For the iMac, use the right hand screen as the primary display with the ability to extend to the left hand screen? Either USB-C or HDMI?
Obviously I don't want to do this simultaneously, but depending what work I am doing at the time, are these scenarios possible and can I still use Dell Display Manager to switch between scenarios?
Recommendations on which monitors to buy would also be welcome.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
