D800 Gigabit Performance Issues

I have a D800, 2ghz, 1gig RAM with a Broadcom 570x 10/100/1000. I have a gig switch, but when I up the broadcom to gig speed I noticed my processer peaks out while using Maxivista (secondary monitor software that runs across the network). I never had this issue while running at 100, in fact the software only uses 3-4% CPU normally.

I understand that this very well may be an issue with the software, as the lan card does run at gig speeds just fine. My question is whether running at gig speeds should use more CPU then normal? I've heard rumors that running at gig speeds does exactly that. If so are there any fixes for the D800? I have updated to the latest broadcom driver and no luck so far. Any tips are appreciated

How about the cable? Do the adapter and the switch think there is a Gbit connection? Error recovery might burn up a lot of CPU. I suppose it is even possible that the Maxivista software notices a better connection and thus updates the remote more often or with more detail ... Don't know anything about that product. You didn't say what OS you were running ... if NT/2000/XP you could look at the task monitor or the performance monitor to see what is using all the CPU.

I just put in Gbit and I found that it is almost impossible to truly do Gbit data transfers ... you run into PCI bus and hard drive limits ... really need PCIe and 3G SATA and possibly RAID ... the link is going to run at the speed of the slowest end.

    Good Luck.
