You need to provide a lot more information.  Which version of Windows are you running?  How is your network set up?  Is it a wireless network?  Are all computers on the network set to obtain an IP address automatically?  Does each computer on the network have a unique name? What is the full and exact text of the error message?

This means that the name of your machine and someone else's are identical.  I don't think it is causing a problem or you would not be able to log on and also you are not joining the Domain or you could not log on at all.

If you are not logging into the domain, then just change the name of your machine.  If you are joining the domain, then only the Sys Admin can hlep you.

Right My Computer>Go to Properties>Computer Name Tab and chnage the Name (not the Description).  Reboot and all is well.
