5150 Diagnostics
I'm trying to run the Dell Diagnostics on my Inspiron 5150 to do some hard drive tests, but I'm having some problems. I bought the computer last August, and I've long since erased the Dell partition at the beginning of the drive.
I can press F12 at bootup to access a Diagnostics item (in the BIOS, I guess), but it only does a few things, then tells me to reboot with the Drivers and Utilities CD to access the full suite. When I put in the D&U CD and tell it to boot from that, it spins for a few seconds, then drops back to the hard drive.
Do I need the Dell partition to use the Diagnostics, even if I have the D&U CD? Or is something else wrong here?
